Sky Blue Harley-Davidson WLA

When a friend of mine told me about this old WLA, I just had to photograph it as I do love old motorbikes — and they don’t come much better than this one.

MATT, the owner of this beautiful WLA, told me that he had a love for motorbikes from a very young age, and that his wife, Courtney, had a love for them also — it’s every man’s dream to have a spouse with the same passion for motorbikes. They have a couple of motorbikes between them — he has a Honda chopper which he has just finished rebuilding and Courtney has a custom Suzuki — but when Matt came across this WLA, they both fell in love with it and just had to have it.

This old motorbike from 1942 may not be totally stock; close-to is fine with Matt. He has been restoring it while enjoying riding it over the years so that it is reliable. He also machined a number of parts that were hard-to-find; and a friend made the brass kickstart. Matt also wanted a bear skin rug as a seat cover — which he loves.

The handsome shade of blue colour is a perfect match to his rare 1200 Datsun Wagon.

Matt loves riding the Harley-Davidson WLA and is looking forward to doing an organised ride from Perth to Sydney this year with a mate who has a red WLA.
