Extreme Candy Gold Pro-Street Motorcycle

"I decided to get it done myself with the help of some mates. It would have cost a fortune if I didn’t, which was one thing that helped with the decision," said Keith.

I’VE ALWAYS been interested in bikes and always wanted one. When I was a kid, I used to trial ride bikes out in the bush, but other than trail bikes, this is the first road bike that I’ve ever had. The frame is an Extreme Pro-Street which I originally bought off eBay and then started to slowly purchase parts for it.

The build originally started at Natalie’s in Penrith but they got closed down. It was then that I decided to get it done myself with the help of some mates. It would have cost a fortune if I didn’t, which was one thing that helped with the decision.

The motor was from Natalie’s too but it blew up right after I got it going. I only got it around the block before it went. Peter and Simon from P&L Performance Cycles rebuilt it from scratch for me. It’s a 127-cubic-inch, diamond-cut Ultima with all Jims valves, rockers and tappets. Simon and Peter have built it to be pretty much bulletproof.

The bike incorporates a six-speed with four-inch open-primary, 41-degree rake, Vance & Hines pipes, and all the accessories are from Arlen Ness like forward controls, clutch and brake.

Adam from Adam Clarke Fabrications, who is based in Penrith, did most of the work like custom guards and the bars; he did a great job and there are some really interesting parts on the bike.

I’m a painter by trade but I didn’t paint it, I got Marc from Sydney Custom Spraypainting to do the paint work. It’s candy gold in colour. My mate Blake did the airbrushing work. He’s also a tattooist, bike builder and air-brusher which comes in handy.

I haven’t planned to put it in any shows but I’ve ridden it a few times and it’s good to ride as an everyday bike. I took it to the Bankstown Bike Show but I was too hung-over so I left at lunch and took it home…
