100 Percent Canberra Built Harley-Davidson Sportster

All work performed after-hours... in seven days from the final concept to riding rubber side down.

HI Guys — Thought we would send through some pics of a Harley-Davidson Sportster 48. Would be great if you guys could run an article (even something small).

All work performed after-hours by Pete and Don in seven days from the final concept to riding rubber side down. Thanks to Todd at Kick Ass Custom, Dean at Canberra Machining Company, the boys at Electroplating Technologies, Gavin the seat guy, and Mark as well for his help with the detailing.

Completely built and modified in-house with the help of the above local businesses. Most parts sourced from the H-D Parts Catalogue from the bike’s bigger brothers; the lesser of the parts from the Accessories Catalogue.

Tech Details

  • Stripped, modified and shortened a FXCWC Rocker front-end; fitted and preloaded the Rocker front springs; added a shade more travel and top out for a better ride.
  • Fitted a Nightster front wheel, hugged by the Rocker front fender that had to be moved to the left for centering (no offset like the Rocker).
  • Built new steering stops and mounted the original Rocker headlight.
  • Modified Road King lower risers to remount the 48’s instruments.
  • Fitted Street Bob handlebars and internally wired the original controls.
  • Black braided cable to keep things under control.
  • Modified the rear fender to accept the old school Wide Glide tailight.
  • Original seat was modified and refitted.
  • Custom paint work by Kick Ass Custom.
  • Welded the original headers to a set of Screamin’ Eagle mufflers to remove all the clamps so they could be wrapped without clamp bulges.
  • Modified the direction of a Screamin’ Eagle heavy breather and added a finer filter pod (the only non H-D part).
  • Polished standard front and rear brake discs.
  • Custom grips and pegs.
  • Original blacked out H-D blinkers front and rear with smoked lenses.
  • Blacked out the triple trees, risers, heavy breather, footpeg mounts, and front axle (no covers).
