Law Enforcement BSA Rider

OZBIKE — I’ve included a photo taken in the police museum of the BSA I rode as a rookie traffic cop in the ‘70s. One interesting anecdote for your younger readers is that in those days we would stop bikers riding with cowboy style rifle scabbards mounted to their bikes, check the exposed guns were legally registered, and then let the armed guys ride off. Imagine that happening today!

Hope none of your hardcore readers are too pissed at an ex-cop getting a free plug but it might be some small consolation to know the last 20 years of my 40 spent in law enforcement were restricted solely to the investigation of police misconduct (Internal Affairs to use Hollywood jargon).

To you and all your readers, ride safe.

STEVE WESTMACOTT.
