Rumble Over the Mountain Fundraiser for Dementia Australia
“Every year the bikes roll in, the engines fire up, the music kicks off, and the crowd gathers for one reason — to stand up against a disease that takes away memories from the people we love,” said Sharky from The Unwanted Few SMC.
WE met up at the new Harley Heaven Dealership in Penrith, and rode through Richmond and Bilpin, up the Bell’s Line of Road, left onto the Darling Causeway to Mount Victoria, then down to Gardners Inn at Blackheath for the raffles, auction, etc. It was a great ride through spectacular country and a successful fundraiser which raised $5085 for Dementia Australia.
For the last four years, members of The Unwanted Few SMC have stood together beside Dementia Australia, not for glory, not for attention, but for something that hits close to home for a lot of people.
What started as a few members wanting to give back turned into an annual ride and fundraiser built on brotherhood, respect, and heart. Every year the bikes roll in, the engines fire up, the music kicks off, and the crowd gathers for one reason — to stand up against a disease that takes away memories from the people we love.
Dementia doesn’t care who you are. It affects fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, mates, and families everywhere. The Unwanted Few SMC saw that pain first-hand and decided to do something about it. Since then, year after year, the club has put in the hard yards to raise money and awareness for those battling dementia and for the families carrying that weight every day.
Behind every raffle ticket sold, every donated prize, every patch sewn on a vest, and every kilometre ridden is real commitment — long nights organising events, chasing sponsors, setting up before sunrise, and making sure every year is bigger and better than the last — all done by people who genuinely give a damn.
What makes these fundraisers special is the atmosphere. It’s not just another event. It’s bikers, supporters, local businesses, mates, and communities standing shoulder to shoulder. People who may never have met before sharing stories, laughs, respect, and a common cause. No egos. No bullshit. Just good people getting behind something important.
Over the last four years, the fundraiser has become part of who The Unwanted Few SMC are. It represents loyalty, brotherhood, and giving back to the community that supports them. It’s proof that beneath the patches, the chrome, and the loud pipes are people with massive hearts willing to stand up when it counts. The Unwanted Few SMC aren’t just riding for themselves anymore. They’re riding for the memories people are fighting to hold onto.
