THE excitement to the build-up of the day at Dust Hustle was nothing short of euphoria; all the young crew were frothing, talking about the day and what bikes they were entering on; Harleys were high on the agenda. Never being one to miss the action, a road trip was in order. Lucky, it was only a day’s event and not too far away from the Gold Coast at the Mick Doohan Raceway, Boondall.
A quick pit-stop at Gasoline Alley to check out the new bikes on offer, always something to get the mind-boggling. At the thought of another, could I part with my baby? No, I’d have to have two… better get out of here.

Arriving near lunchtime the event was in full swing. The wall-to-wall Harleys parked along the spectator entrance were obviously a big crowd pleaser.
I wasn’t to be disappointed — the action was relentless with every type of bike imaginable, in different categories.
It was obvious right from the start that the early stomping ground for most of this guys would have been motocross, and good riders at that. It was the best entertainment I had seen on bikes for quite some time, with the Harley category really taking the cake for maximum beef, and bike stoke! Some of those guys could ride; the young crew are where it’s at for taking it to the next level.
I left that day thinking that there were only two girls out there — this needed to be addressed. I’ll be back!
