Harley-Davidson Night Train Custom

Brian reckons black is beautiful…

I BOUGHT this Harley-Davidson brand new and the first things fitted were the Performance Machine wheels before it even exited the shop.

The first ride was from the dealership to Speed Demon where Shane modified the pipes to get it to sound and perform okay, but within weeks we fitted a Screamin’ Eagle Stage 1 breather kit and a set of Vance & Hines pipes to get it to sound and perform even better.

The next things I got fitted were the longer tubes with new triple trees, and with this we were determined to change anything that was chrome-plated to black. The wheels got the black treatment; they were powder-coated which upset a few of the chrome enthusiasts out there.

The air-cleaner got ditched for a K&N filter with a forward facing elbow from RB Specials which are fabricated by RPM (Roscoe’s Performance Motorcycles); the steering damper was also fabricated to fit by RPM to give the bike more stability at warp speed plus.

As soon as I saw the classic Z-bars I just had to have them fitted but off to the powder-coaters first to get them coloured fire-engine-red which matched the entire pinstriping that was laid on by Von Pato Pinstriping.

Overall, this is one of my best bikes I have had. It isn’t an overstated ‘custom’ bike but it does stand out from the pack whether parked outside a pub or thundering down the highway with my mates.
