Harley-Davidson Mexican Low-Rider Deluxe & Chantel Honey
Mark didn’t want any Harley-Davidson — he wanted a Mexican Low-Rider — so he got his family and friends to help out.
MARK was sick of seeing both his brothers-in-law always riding their Harleys around. He went for a ride on one and decided he wanted one too, but not any Harley — he wanted a Mexican Low-Rider — so he went to a mate, Jonny Marenko, and asked if he could find him a bike.
Jonny came across a Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe that was the right price so Mark bought it. Jonny then gave Mark a list of parts he would need to turn it into a Mexican low-rider.
Mark then went to see his brother-in-law, Mick, and together they ordered the parts. Mark chose the Landmark 21-inch wheel with 40 diamond spokes for the front, and matching 18 x 6-inch rear wheel with matching drive pulley. To complete the look, he bought polished mirrored rotors and brake calipers. He also ordered the Landmark grips and switch blocks, and Kuryakyn brake pedal and gear shifter.
While they were waiting for the parts to arrive from the States, Mark went out and got the Wild One chubby risers, ape-hangers, the braided brake lines, the flush-mounted tank fuel cap, gauges, and the exhaust.
Meanwhile Mick was modifying the rear guard to take the LePera Heritage seat which was sent off to Adam at Romeri Motor Trimmers to be re-skinned in leather. Mark also resprayed the rear and front guard.
The engine was given a tweak by putting in Screamin’ Eagle cams and a Power Commander to keeping it running sweet.
Once all the parts arrived, Mark sent it off to a good mate Kast who put it altogether in one week.
The front wheel had the 120 Avon white-wall tyre put on; the rear is a 150 white-wall. The full length dash was put on along with the 16-inch ape-hangers, braided brake lines and accelerator cables; and the Freedom 2.5-inch exhaust and fishtails were added. The crash bars went on and bolt cap covers on the engine and wheels.
The end result speaks for its self. The bike was then put in the Perth Custom Bike and Rod Show at Burswood Dome and won Perth’s Best Street Bike.
Mark takes every opportunity he can to get out on his bike, and now enjoys riding around with his brothers-in-law. He would like to thank his wife and kids for putting up with the cost of the build; Mick and Paul, his brothers-in-law, for the endless help with the build and advice; Jonny and Kast for putting it altogether; Adam from Romeri Motor Trimmers; Dean from Rollies Speed shop; the boys from Harley Heaven; but most of all, a special thanks to his mate Martin Mirco for the detailing of the bike; and finally, Chantel for coming out on the day to model on the bike.
