Gold Coast Harley-Davidson Heritage Mex

“Working for myself and being able to build bikes and cars in my own shop is what it's all about,” said Travis.

I GREW up in a house that was right in the middle of a wrecking-yard so I always had something to ride or drive, usually on its last legs, and would squeeze life out of it until it was dead. With that upbringing, it would be pretty hard to stay away from anything with an engine! I’ve since worked at Movie World for nine years as a stunt driver and as a V8 Super School instructor out at Norwell.

I’ve always worked on cars and this is my first bike. It started life as a 2004 Heritage and it took me eight months to build in amongst building a ’69 LS3 Camaro. I really enjoy building anything, whether it’s car or bike. I also like being able to use local businesses around me. We have so many talented guys on the Gold Coast that makes my job easier.

Livin Loco stretched the guards and did the paint using the base colour from my ’57 Chev pickup.

Turna’s Exhausts built the custom fishtails. I love the look of the fishtails but not the sound. So to retain a better note I had Pete dump the pipes near the rear wheel.

I went with Slamtail hydraulic shocks to keep the smooth ride, 16-inch Carlini Gangsta bars with risers, diamond stitch seat from Low Co Customs, and Mammoth 21-inch spoke front wheel with a 18-inch rear.

Everything that has been blackened out has been powder-coated by PK Powder Coating.

This bike was a learning curve for me, and while there are a few Mex style bikes getting around these days, I’m proud of the fact I built this one. I’m really looking forward to sinking my teeth into this next build. It’s going to be something special.”
