Here is how it works in short: The cam lobe holds the exhaust valve open slightly at cranking speed. This releases some of the compression, making the engine much easier to crank.

A selection of many different grinds are available, both in gear and chain drive. Chain drive kits use the stock cam chains; gear drive kits must be used with the S&S gear drive conversion kit.
