Charity Ride Across the Top of Australia

Ozbike Podcast

HEY Skol — we are doing a charity ride across the top of Australia on a 1938 Harley and a BMW R1200RT on the 7th July.

Reason for the ride is, we are a family of 13 who all love bikes and have been impacted by cancer greatly. This is something we can do to help, and do what we love to do at the same time.

The basic plan is that we leave Byron Bay at 10 am from Main Beach. I will be dressed as Aunty Jack and my brothers will be dressed as Flange Desire and Fat Bastard. Grahame Bond (the actor who played Aunty Jack) will be at the start to see us off in a sidecar. We expect about 50 — 80 bikes to parade out of town including Ulysses, BACA and Vietnam Vets. We are then going to the Big Red Bash (Birdsville), then a bike escort into Katherine on Show Day, an escort into Port Hedland, and the same for Exmouth. We will have five GoPro’s and a DSLR camera to record the trip.

This is my the bike. It has been rebuilt by myself from the wheels up. Hopefully I have done a good enough job to last the trip. My brother Iain will be riding a BMW R1200RT, and we will be meeting amazing people and promoting the charity along the way.

By the way, this is what we will be wearing.
