Black Dog Ride (all over Oz); 23 March. Thousands of Black Dog Riders will depart from 30 locations across Australia to raise vital funds for Lifeline Australia in support of their suicide prevention services. Motorcycle enthusiasts are encouraged to join the ride to show their support & raise awareness for depression & suicide prevention. The ride’s founder Steve Andrews, who lost his mother to suicide, said: “Depression is an illness, not a weakness & effective treatments are available. If we talk about depression & work together, we can make a difference.” Riders are encouraged to register early. Those who register before 9 March will go in the draw to receive a unique, hand crafted 18 carat gold Black Dog Ride 1 Dayer ring valued at $1500, donated by Black Dog Rider Clayton Gordon of Gordon Jewellers, Busselton. Last year’s ride saw nearly 5000 Black Dog Riders hit the highways in support of the cause.
