The Passing of a Good Mate

HI Skol—I am writing to you on behalf of my partner Martin Jones who is an avid reader of Ozbike. Recently his older brother Steve Jones took his own life, mostly as a result of depression. Martin would really like to see something published in Ozbike to remember his brother and for all the people whose lives where touched by Steve.

Steve was originally from Canberra but he had lived on the Gold Coast for about 28 years and was widely known among the locals and everyone remembers his love of bikes. He loved them so much started his own motorcycle detailing business.

He had a great sense of humour and even started his own motorcycle club, Weirdo MC. He was the President, the Secretary and the only member! Steve was a bit of a tourist attraction riding around with his red nose pit-bull on the front of his bike; people always stopped him for photos

The Uhlans and the Finks organised a run before the service and they travelled to some of Steve’s favourite haunts which included Wallaby Bobs at Mudgereeba then they all made their way to the service at Nerang.

A wake was held at Billy’s Beach House at Surfers where Steve had worked.

Brother Lost

DEAR Ozbike—My brother Steve was in your mag #278 on page 52. He was looking after his mate Chris’s bike while he was on a holiday thanks to Her Majesty. We have sadly lost Steve. He passed away on the 24/08/07 on the Gold Coast.

I would once again like to thank everyone involved in helping his family out during this sad time. Your strength, love, friendship was amazing; thank you. Thank you to the Uhlans and the Finks MC’s for a fine turn out and a great farewell to theirs and my brother.

I would also like to thank the Qld police for turning up at the wake and nearly starting a riot, Steve’s Mum was really impressed, nice one guys!!

Thank you once again to all his brothers and sisters and friends. Bless you all.

MARTIN.
